Thoenix, Ariz., Nov. 15 A lengthy and otherwise tedious session of the constitutional convention was enlivened enliv-ened for half an hour upon convening yesterday afternoon by replies to criticisms crit-icisms of the convention and individual individ-ual members of a local Democratic newspaper, made by. Delegate Wlnsor of Yuma, and Delegate Parsons of Cochise county, both among the majority ma-jority leaders on the floor. Half a dozen sections of the judicic-lary judicic-lary system measure wtre tentatively tentative-ly adopted with amendments, the most Important of which 13 the combining com-bining of Coconino, Navajo and Apache counties with one superior judge of the three. Those opposing the California su- perlur court system could poll only 14 votes on a motion to substitute the district court system. The judiciary propos.tlon as adopted adopt-ed thirs for, provides for a supreme courl of three, eleven superior judges in as many counties or districts, all to be elected at the regular election, but the names are to be placed on tho ballots alphabetically and with six year terms for supreme and four year terms for superior judges. The committee on education reported report-ed unfavorably the proposition pro-I pro-I vidlng for the segregation of coiored children in the public schools. |
