Nov. 14 The Supreme Su-preme court of the United States declined de-clined today to review eight decisions of the lower courts In which the right of the government to collect the Sl.'-nlsh American war Inneritance lax I on estates 01 persons who died within tbo year preceding July 1, 1902, was a tacked. The effect of the action of the court today will be that the decrees of the lower courts in these particular cases, 1 bedding that the government had no light to collect the tax and must pay It, will stand as the law in these particular parti-cular cases. I The action today was taken not-I not-I withstanding the decision of the u-jjrcnie u-jjrcnie court last spring that the tax was imposed on such estates and that the government had a right to collect it and, having collected It, j hud the right to retain It. |
