On the Tallsade national forest in Idaho the damage has leen much more serious. There tho force has been fighting three large fires. This fire Is now under control con-trol and Its being held by a force of twenty-flve men headed by Deputy Supervisor Beam. . Another largo fire has been burning on Radger Creek, but is now reported tinder control with ulout twenty-five men on the fire line, holding It to the area already burned ovor. No word has been received for several days from the flro on Bitch Creek Fifty men have bqen sent to the scene of action, but the lire Is remote from sources of communication and It is not known at the Ogden office what progress l.i being made in the fight ncainst it However, It is firmly believed be-lieved that this fire will be confined to the drainage area of a single creek. Sherman Sher-man received n letter today giving detailed de-tailed reports on four fires which have been burning in the remote interior in-terior of the Idaho nationals forest. The most serious fire of all is at Urundave Mountain. This fire Is being be-ing held In check by forty men employed em-ployed by the forest service. A flro in Chamberlln basin broke out August Aug-ust 20 and when last heard from was reported to be spreading rapidly. This fire s being foupht by Ranger Cyrus McCall with a little hand of ten men, all he has been able to secure in that isolated district. A third fire, twenty-two twenty-two miles east of McCall. on Lick Creek, s now makng consdernblo headway head-way and will destroy considerable timber. Additional men have, been sent to this lire which. It 1a anticipated anticipat-ed will soon be broucht under control The lourth serious fire reported on the Idaho national forest was on Hard Creek and is now under complete control. con-trol. In addition to the foregoing, serious seri-ous fires have been reported from the Welser, Sawtooth. Wyoming, Salmon and Challis nutlona! forests, but In every case the situation Is believed to be now well in hand and the fires are being held to the area originally burned burn-ed over. |
