Slone, grand chief of tho Brotherhood of Locomotive Kngineers, arrived In Chicago lust niht to present pre-sent a final ultimatum to the railroad managers. Some of the chairmen of the different systems reached the city last nleht and others will arrive to- day. The railroad managers, who have been In conference with representatives representa-tives of the nrotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and tho Order of Railway Conductors for two weeks, adjourned j their conference until Tuesday, so as j to permit the resumption of negotla-i negotla-i Hons with the engineers on Monday, Mr. Ston will announce the official count of the strike vote then. The mm are asking for an advance ad-vance of 15 per cent In wages. The railroads, which have offered an S per cent increase, probably will offer lo arbitrate the contiovcrsy under the Erdman law. |
