Show FISHER GIVES FIRST CF II5Ii The First Methodist church was well filled last night to hear the first of the series of the Christmas ser-mono ser-mono by the pastor, Frederick Yinlng Fisher. The solo singing by Mis3 Rosalie Holberg was especially fine. "Tho Christmas Christ is a real Christ," said Mr. Fisher In opening his sermon. "One might as well make out Lincoln a myth as Christ. Old Latin books written in the age In which he lived tell of hinj; all art, music and literature are full of him. The only possible explanation of modern mod-ern Christianity Is that It was founded found-ed by a real Christ. The Chrl.Umas Christ is not only real, but human, born a labo or poverty, a mechanic by trade, a son of the peop'e, yet no country or race can claim him; he Is a world Christ, the only man who belongs be-longs to every land and' people. He Is a supernatural Christ. Take out of the story of Christinas lt.-i supernatural supernat-ural elements, the Etar, the angels, the wise men, and you have no Christmas left to charm tho children, inspire mu3ic and art and thrill men. "But above ail, he is the Ixrd Christ, greater than any church, big ger than any book. Ho alone is the final authority In re'ir.lon and morals for every living man "The ideal world shall come when every man listens direct to his will, m place of kings nnd priests. Every man Is under the direct leadership of the- Christmas Christ. Then will democracy de-mocracy lie real, bosses overthrown and men be uplifted Into an eternal Christmas spirit." |
