Show SOCIALISTS ; ADOPT A RESOLUTION The rally meeting of the Ogden branch of tho Socialist party, held In Ogden Musical hall yesterday afternoon, after-noon, was largely attended and the prime result of the gathering was the Instilling of new life into the moe-mcut moe-mcut in this city. A number of new members were added to the ranks of the party in this city. William M. Wesley presided as chairman of the meeting, and there were talks by the chairman, A. Van Wcrden, candidate on the Socialist ticket for stale senator at the recent election; Benjamin Jensen, Mr. Al-vcrd, Al-vcrd, Mrs. A. Van Werdeu and other rviCLubcrs of the branch. As a declaration of indignation at tho Imprisonment of Fred D. Warren, eultor of the Appeal to Reason, who was given six months In the federal prison at Leavenworth nnd a fine of v 1,500 for tho sending of alleged scurrilous scur-rilous literature through the mails, the following protest waj unanimously adopted: I "We, tho Socialists of Ogden, In ' public assembly, do hereby voice our protest against the legal persecution and Imprisonment of Fred D. Warren, ; I he fighting editor of the Appeal to ; lieasou, of GIrard, Kansas, j "We must consider that such ae lion by the United States courts In ; inflicting this punishment upon this ; champion of the working class brasds those courts as the judical and sub-i sub-i rervlent agents of the capitalist class, and that the Imprisonment of the ' GIrard editor 13 a blow at the liberty of the people's press anil at tne freedom free-dom of speech which is assureJ tho people of this country by the Declaration Declara-tion of Independence.
