Goelec of field district No. 1. wilii hpn iln ii.n rt ore In MluKmiln re- turned today from hl6 trip through the northern part of Montana and In IdahD with Secretary of Agriculture James A Wilson and brought with him much new information of the forest for-est fire conditions in the territory through which he has traveled. In an Interview this morning, Forester For-ester Groelec said that w.thln the Coeur TVAlene forest, comprlslnjg territory ter-ritory in northwestern Montana and Idaho, there were 40 separate larco fires now burning and that an army of more than 1,ooo men were employed em-ployed In fighting the flames. Today not a single one of these 10 fires has been reported as under control con-trol and the force of men will bo increased in-creased as fast as possible until somo kind of control can be maintained and a good soaking rain comes to aid the fighters. "A heavy rain," said Mr. Goelcc, "Is absolutely the only thing which will now fully extinguish these fires. While the fighters are doing much good and have saved countless acres of fine timber from being burned already, al-ready, still they are unable to cope with the changing winds and increasing increas-ing number of Ares.
