Show PWORTH LEAGUE EKIEMS BOYS Attired in clothes which were Indicative Indi-cative of near-poverty, more than Ion people, members of the Methodist church and tho recently formed D. O. R. club assembled at the church parlors par-lors last evening as the guests of the young ladies of the Epworth League. It was a hard times social and anything any-thing In the costume line which exceeded ex-ceeded gingham and overalls was pun ishable by a fine. Some of the costumes had evidently bee n resurrected from the rag bag and others reflected poverty of a higher plane. One of the most appropriate costume was worn by Mrs. Georso Craig, who appeared as "Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch," In spite of the warning Issued 'by the committee, some of the guests appeared in their "Sundav" clothes and were promptly lined The evening was spent In playing games, among which was Indoor football. foot-ball. There were also various athletic Cf ntests, which Included a tug of war, relay race and high jump for doughnuts. dough-nuts. There were also several muBlcal selections, Miss Mclsner contributing to the program with several piano solos. Refreshments of lemonade and crullers crul-lers were served, the lemonade being served In tin cups from a large tin pan which served a a punch bowl The young ladles of the league proved themselves capable entertainers, and the arrangement committee, headed by Miss Irene Griffin, was especially praised. |
