Show Bill HUBBUB OVER CASE MEASLES While on his way from Lincoln, Nebraska, Ne-braska, with a carload of blooded cows for the Utah penitentiary, Wm. Gray was taken 111 at Evanston, Wyoming, yesterday, but came on to Ogden, where he wa taken In charge this morulng by tho health officers, and placed under quarantine for measles. When he reached Dvanston he had j been o.n the road a number of dayj, I sleeping In the car where the cattle were kept, and had felt rather under the weather during that tlmo. but he became very ill at the Wyoming town. He succeeded In calling the attention at-tention of the railroad employes to his condition. Ho was thoroughly 1 roken out with the measles' rash at tho time and the Evanston people thought he was suffering of smallpox. small-pox. Word of bis condition was sent to the state penitentiary and the authorities authori-ties there were advised that the roan would be shipped to Ogdeu where ho would be quarantined. In the meantime mean-time the Ogden fTlcers were notified of tho man's coming and of his condition. con-dition. So this morning, after the car containing Gray and the cattle hal be-c-n switched to a siding In tho railroad rail-road yards, the man was taken to the police station 3nd the city physician physi-cian called A careful examination diecloted the fact that the man had a severe cae of measles. The sanitary department was ad I vised of the man's condition and they telephoned the Ogden General hospital hos-pital for a place there for the su-ferer su-ferer The response came from Dr. Joyce that they would not receive tho man at all The doctor stated that the city had been In tho habrt of sending every kind of obnoxious casn to them, but when they had a case of pneumonia or other diseases of the kind. It was kept at the city elation and doctored there. The city physician, however, found a place for the man at a private residence, resi-dence, where he was made comfortable comfort-able and where he will be given the best of medical aid and nursing. The warden of the state nenlten- tlary telephoned City Sanitary Inspector Inspec-tor Poulter to spare no pains In furnishing fur-nishing aid to Mr. Gray, and he would be responsible for the charges. A man was sent up from Salt Lake this mornia-; to take charge 0f the cattle, Mr. Gray Is about 23 years of age , and was In apparently good health when he started on the trip. |
