Show OUR FARMERS ARE MOST FORTUNATE. The Amalgamated Sugar company officials report the outlook for the sugar beet crop to be most encouraging. This is early in the season to attempt to say what the crop will be, but the conditions so far have been favorable for a bumper crop, which, with the increased in-creased price, will add materially to the prosperity with which the fanners have been favored the last few years. There is one most pleasing side to this beet industry and that is the farmer, regardless of the financial storms which may rage in the nation, is certain that the slump will not strike him or affect the price to be paid for his beets. Early in the year he signs his contract and then, estimating the tonnage to be harvested in the fall, he figures the size of his bank deposit nearly a year hence. No other farmer is so insured against adversity and no other farmer can rest so assured of ultimate success even before the seed is planted. The beet industry, as related to the business of this community, means great stability and a freedom from the most adverse conditions condi-tions of periods of depression. |
