Creeping along at-a snail's pace, heavily-laden j trains today slowly bore the lnaugur- al crowds away from. the capital. Crippled-telegraph and telephone faclll-I ties, which made it impossible p operate trains lust night within somo six to twelve hours of schedule time, were somewhat Improved but still far from normal. The thousands who flocked to the ceremonies seemingly attempted to leave the city at one time. Immense crowds flocked to the Union Station, and military and civic organizations vied with each other in their display as they departed or waited to depart. All through the day. the crowd at the station was aroused -now and then by some enthusiastic organization, marching round and round through the I vast concourse in the station with a ' baud in the lead.
