Show CASE FAILS TO COME BEF0RJP0LICE COURT The police court grind was a brief one today only a few drunks and vags being acted upon. Harry May, a waiter, was charged with vagrancy, it being suspected that he is an undesirable citizen from certain cer-tain rumors regarding the nature of his livelihood. The defendant pleaded not guilty and explained to the court that he was a waiter hy trade and he asserted that he had always supported support-ed himself bv nonest labor. He admitted ad-mitted that'll had "followed the ponies' more or less at times but said that it was his own "hard-earned cash" that he used in playing the game which was any man's nrlvllece. The court failed to unearth anything any-thing decidedly against the man's character and decided to give him a suspended sentence of ninety days with Instructions to go to work at once or get out of the city. A charge or speeding an automobile automo-bile across the Intersection of a! street, preferred again William Johnson, John-son, was mysteriously withdrawn before be-fore the convening of Court and nothing noth-ing regarding the incidents leading up to the arrest could be learned. Frank Barker forfeited ffo on a charge of drunkenness by not appearing appear-ing in court. Louis Ivourtz and James MeCaily were fined each for drunkenness and George A. Miller drew a ten-spot, for admitting that he was guilty of vagrancy. A complaint was filed charging Joseph Jo-seph Hogge of West Weber with fjsh-inz fjsh-inz without a license but the case was postponed, as was also tha case of assault preferred against John Doe, J a Greek, accused of striking Angelo I and Jessie Far! no. t |
