Show NEVADA-UNITED TO RESUME ACTION Conditions Favorable at the Big Copper Cop-per Property Near -Lovelock. . John T. Reid, general manager for the Nevada United .Mining, compan', operating. the big copper property at White Cloud, returned the. early part of this week from an .inspection trip to his pioperty, says the. Lovelock Review. Re-view. During the latter part of January the Nevada United property, was forced to close down on account of encountering encounter-ing a large flow of water. In driving a crosscut tunnel to tap tho b'g veins of ore a channel of water was opened up and the flow was so great that work had to be abandoned.. . It Is estimated that fully one million gallons of water was flowing out of the tunnel every twenty-four house.. . .The water came out with such force that it was Impossible Impos-sible to get closer than within twenty-feet twenty-feet of the face of the tunnel. Mr. Reid said that the flow of water was somewhat reduced now, but pot sufficiently to permit the resumption of work. He was able to reach the face 'of the tunnel .though the task was a little difficult. "I was able to make a partial Inspection In-spection of the formation," continued Mr. Reid, "and I must say that It looks most encouraging. There are many evidences of ore and all the conditions point to opening up something some-thing big soon after work can be resumed. re-sumed. From all appearances I think we can be able to combat the water within the next thirty days, and If arrangements ar-rangements can be made the Nevada United will resume operations on a much larger scale than ever before." Mr. Reid expects to leave shortly for a trip to New York, and other eastern points. En route he will visit Ely. Park City, Utah; Joplln, Mo.; Ducktown, Tenn., and Franklin Furnace. N. J. . He will study the mining conditions in these BevernI camps. He expects to bo absent about thirty dayb. |
