Show THREE DAYS' RACING A WEEK IN NEW YORK Program For the Coming Season is Mapped Out By Turf Directors. (By Ed Curley.) New York, April 19 Turfites will have to be satisfied with three days of racing a week around New York. This plan was practically announced when the directors of the Westchester Racing association held a meeting in August Belmont's office and arranged 1 the schedule of racing for Belmont I park, which will open the eastern sea- I son on Thursday, May 13. The days on which the thoroughbreds will per-' per-' form arc Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The proviso Is added that If the pat-' pat-' ronago makes It appear as if more j days are wanted they will be gladly admitted to the schedule. It Is also announced that six races will be run dally and the stake book will be pub-i pub-i llshed as soon as possible. The as-. as-. soclatlon announces that they will run off the following closed stakes: The Belmont. $30,000 guaranteed; the Ladles. $5,000 added; the Withers, With-ers, $10,000 added, and the National Stallion, $8,000 added.' In addition It. was decided to open and close In the. near future eighteen other stakes and necessary overnight purses to make. up a full program. |
