Two weeks ago the prisoners were placed under arrest at Fort Worth, for the murder, and brought to Ada for trial. Miller had his preliminary hearing last Friday and wa3 held without with-out ball. The authorities allege that Allen and West, who were wealthy cattlemen of Canadian, Texas, hired Miller to kill Bobbitt. Burrell paying Miller the money. Allen West and Bobbitt were neighbor ranchmen in Seminole county and the trouble la alleged to have been due to an old disagreement. FOUR MEN-LYNCHED MEN-LYNCHED BY-MOB Sheriff Overpowered and Accused Murderers Murder-ers Seized , i Ada, Okla. April 19. At 3 o'clock ' this morning, a mob of two hundred men stormed the county Jail here, and after overpowering the sheriff, lynched four white men. The lynched men are: J. B. Miller of Fort Worth, I Texas, charged with the murder of A. A. Bobbitt, a wealthy cattleman of this section,' and D. B. Burrell, Jesse West ( and Joseph Allen, alleged accomplices. The mob worked rapidly anj quietly, quiet-ly, nothing being known of the lynch- ing until daylight. The victims of tli mob were taken to a barn within a i short distance of tho jail. "Bring a lope," the leader shouted, and one by one the men were hanged. The mob effected an entrance to the jail by tear- I ing down a high fence which enclosed , It. As soon as all of the members of tlie villgance party were inside tho enclosure, the leader pounded on tho jail door. "Sheriff, we mean business." busi-ness." ho called to the officer inside. Inside, one of the party dealt the sheriff a blow with his revolver, re-volver, felling him. The mob then completed its work. Walter Peeler, aged 17, a nephew, of Sillier, confined in tho Jail for com-pllcltv com-pllcltv in the murder, was not molested molest-ed by the. lynchers. He turned state's evidence a week ago, and was being held as a witness. The electric wires were cut by the mob prior to tho hanging, and the city thrown into complete darkness, Bobbitt Bob-bitt was killed February 27, 1909. He was driving in his wagon a few miles out of Ada. The shot which killed him was fired from ambush. The assassin mounted his borne and rode away.
