Show CAPTURED AT GREEN RIVER ' BY SHERIFF. B. WILSON Joseph Dye and Anna M. Carlson, a woman claiming to be his wlfo. were captured at Green River Saturday by Sheriff Barlow Wilson and brought to Ogden yesterday and landed in the county jail, charged with forgery. A few days before Christmas three 1 checks, aggregating $45. to which the I name of Sheriff Wilson had been forged, forg-ed, were passed at a drug store in this city by a woman who represented her- ' self as the cook at the county jail. Later they were discovered to be spurious, spur-ious, and Sheriff Wilson started to work on the case. Dye was formerly an Inmate of the county Jail, where he became familiar with the signature signa-ture of the sheriff, and was at once suspected of having had a hand In the affair. He and the woman were seen to leave the city together on a late train the same day that the checks were cashed. Sheriff Wilson received word that they had been seen at Pocatello, and j went there Thursday. He found that they had left, and after tracing them ! to Granger, learned that they had gone j to Green River. With the assistance ' of Deputy Sheriff M. V. Naylan or Kemmerer, Wyo , he placed them under un-der arrest at a rooming house and ' brought them back to Ogden. The girl was formerly employed as a waitress here, and had been going un'der the name of Selma BloomquisL Dye U wanted for a number of other charges in addition to that of forgery. At flrnt he refused to accompany the officers Into this state without requisition requi-sition papers, but later waived all technicalities and consented to accompany accom-pany the sheriff to Ogden. |
