Show CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETS TO ELECT NEW PRESIDENT TO FILL VACANCY. Motion Passed Instructing Railroad Committee to Use Beet Efforts to Secure Reduced Rates. -y At the meeting of the Ogden Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce last evening William Wil-liam Bostaph was elected president to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of S. H. Browne. A vote of thankfc was tendered Mr. Browne and also J. T. Rushmer. ox-member of the board of directors. A motion was unanimously carried that the committee on railroads exorcise exor-cise their best efforts toward securing secur-ing equitable railroad rates over the Harrlman roads for the Four-State Fair in contemplation for Ogrten this year. The committee was Instructed to report their labors at the next meeting of the organization. A resolution was passed that the city council be requested to place the names of the streets and avenues of the city at the Intersection of the same in conspicuous places that the strangers In the city could keep their bearings. It was stated at tl: meeting meet-ing that the city fathers have In their possession metallic names or tho various va-rious streets and avenues of the city, purchased some two years ago, and that they should be placed where they could be seen by the public. The public utilities committee was instructed to Inquire into the feasibility feasi-bility and the desirability of the city purchasing the water interests of the Ogden Bench Canal company and report re-port their findings at the next meeting. meet-ing. This honor was conferred upon Mr. Bamberger because be-cause of the fact that he had built an intenirban railroad into the city which is of commercial value to Ogden. Og-den. A resolution was also unanimously passed that the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce is opposed to the appropriation of an additional $5,000 to the park commission of the city until the streets of the city are designated at intersections thereof. |
