Active buying on the part ot houses with eastern conectlons was responsible for the upward swing of values. Uncertainty at the outset was associated more or less with nows of the overthrow of the YVirth administration adminis-tration in Germany, but offerings of wheat were scarce and the market readily advanced when buyers became, aggressive. The opening. which varied from off to c up. with I December $1.17 i to 1.17 and May :$1 15 to l .15 -V was followed by a I moderate sag and then by a sharp 'general upturn to well aboe Tuesday Tues-day s finish. Corn and oats, largely paralleled the ociion of wheat. After opening J8 to 'j' higher. December 7018 to 70 Vic. the corn market underwent a little (setback, then rose above initial fig-i fig-i ures. December touching a new high price record for the season I Oats started 'ift c lower (o He I higher. December 4 2 ft 4 2 e, and j later scored slight gains all around. Provisions lacked support.
