The transformation trans-formation from civilians to service men of 800 younp men from all pans of the Lntermountaln country during the last three days of strenuous work, which marks the opening of the second sec-ond military training comp, at Fort Douglas. Uniforms and equipment have been issue. l, the men assigned to tents; red. whit, and blue companies organized and all preparations made t begin actual work Monday morning Most of those taking the course are students stu-dents of high schools and colleges v ho have lei ted this method of spending part of their vacation The majority have been assigned to take j the red course designed for tho.ie I who have had no previous military ! training There are, however, enough ; qualified applicants to make well or-i or-i ganlzed units for white and blue courses, given for nun with some training. Men are rapidly adjusting themselves them-selves to life in a military' tent, offl- i cers say. A half holiday was declared this afternoon for those who arc nil prepared lor work Monday. This evening eve-ning the first entertainment will he put od Directed by Amadec Tnm-blay. Tnm-blay. organist of the Cathedral of th Madeleine, a minstrel show will be given with dances and songs by some of the best talent of Salt Lake. KHIglous services will be conducted tomorrow. At 8 o'clock In the- morning morn-ing mass will be celebrated and Catholic Cath-olic ser lees eunductej by Father S. F Donnelly, Protectant services will be conducted by Frank B Hart, fort chaplain, at 10 SClock. In the evening eve-ning there will be a band concert and n n open-air service at which Major Carl A. Badger of Salt Lake will oe the speaker. |
