Show I REGION AL CONFERENCE OF RED CROSS. Ogden is honored today by the presence pres-ence of the delegates to the first re gional conference of the Utah chapters of the American Red Cross. I'onvrn lions come and go but there is more j than ordinary honor in being the boslj city to the men and women who are today planning in iho University club roi a healthier and better Utah. The delegates to tins conferem I were the leaders in their arlous counties coun-ties in the Red Cross activities during ,ibe World war. The record that Utah made in that trying period was second 'to none in all the Red Cross work. It was largely due to the delegates now in conference that that record added I so much of honor to our state. I A second service was rendered to the state by these same Red Cross workers when the influenza called them to give time and strength day and night to succor thce who were stricken by that dread malady. Now that peace and health rule and many find the needs of the state are adequately met by other forces, these workers, who from experience have come to know the deeper needs of I young and old alike, have met to deliberate de-liberate upon the conditions of today, that unconsidered, will mean serious results tomorrow. In this the Red Cross workers here are but doing what is being accomplished in other states for organization and forethought fore-thought are the watchwords of the American Red Cross everywhere. There are many needy tasks that ! the local Red Cross workers can well afford to consider seriously. Much of the work that is most needed Is so unattractive un-attractive that only a service inspired organization like the Red Cross can do it. The maintaining ol the present Community clinic is worthy the best j that local workers have put into it. The American Red Cross is the one National American order. It Is he one organization that should appeal to every American The president Is us constitutional chief The care ol the needy of every class and kind is its chartered duty It is the hope of the sufferers in disaster and ii should be the opportunity of those who desire to unselfishly 9erve. All honor to the visit inn workers of the American Red Cross. oo |
