Show uu URGE LUMBERMEN TO STANDARDIZE PORTLAND. Ore, July 27. When lumber producing associations aro 'prepared to carry through standardization standardiza-tion of lumber grades and dimensions the United States departmefn of com-1 merce will come to tho assistance of producers in an effort to obtain a universal uni-versal adoption of such standards, said William A. Durgain, representing Secretary of Commerce Hoover, at the semi-annual meeting of the Western Pine Manufacturers association here Wednesday. He added 'hat tho department de-partment heads will be well satisfied if adoption of standards can be attained at-tained within a year. The afternoon's sepsion of tbe asso-j elation was given to a discussion ofl the railroad rate situation. Today the National Lumber Manu-facturers' Manu-facturers' assoclalon directors, of which John W Blcdgeit of Grand Rap-Ids, Rap-Ids, Mich., is executive head, will begin be-gin a two day's session. Standardized Sizes and erodes will be discussed. |
