Show 00 SHEEP DOG GOES THROUGH TRICKS AT STOCK SHOW Holding a fair-sized audience Intensely interested, "Tweed," a Scottish sheep doc Imported from the bonnie HlelandS" by Sam s. Stoddart, Internationally known us o shepherd and flockmaster, ran a herd of sheep at the Livestock Live-stock show yesterday afternoon with skill that was almost un- canny. "Tweed." a small black -coa ted shepherd dog. with ears of dark brown and under fur of the same color, managed his tlo-k of sheep with the skill of i well-trained top sergeant. Stoddart. i whistling whist-ling and motioning witli his hand-, directed the movement of the band, while the dog was on the alert to bunch his flock, keep Strays With the main group, divide di-vide i he flock at command, .and run the sheep to and fro along the long corral in which the exhibition ex-hibition was held. Stoddart has been employed by the Butterfield Livestock company com-pany during the past show season, sea-son, and has made a tour of tin-Northwestern tin-Northwestern circuit with his dog "Tweed" and its companion, "Ross" ROSS Is not as flashy a dog as Tweed, but is a consistent consist-ent worker. Stoddart maintains. The shepherd has accepted a position as flockmaster at the University of Idaho. F. F. Milbi. munager of the Butterfiejd exhibit here, and in charge of th.- sales, has a flock of forty sheep in hl charge. The flock is Squally divided between Rambouilettes and Hampshires, and such sneep us are not disposed dis-posed of In Ogden, will betaken t shows ut Denver, Colo.. and Wi.-hlta Fulls. Kan. Miller stated that he will not move his shipment until Monday. The sheep in MllleCs charge were awarded the Charles Barton trophy as the ft m exhibit of rcg-Istred rcg-Istred sheep at the show. |
