Show THANKS JUDGE FOR SENTENCE; But Schumaker Not Without With-out Sarcasm As He Gets I 1 to 20 Years "Thank you," exclaimed Joseph Schumaker, former Ogden tailor. In a loud voice this mornliiR In the district court after Judge George R. Barker sentenced him to from one to twenty rears imprisonment in Ihfl Stale peni-lentlury peni-lentlury at hard labor. The words wore not given without i trace of sarcasm and Schumaker then mrnod to the deputy sheriff at his Mdo and motioned lhat he was ready to go back to the county jail from vhere he will be taken to the slate prison. Schumaker entered a plea of guilty 'o a charge or forgery and grimly j faced the court to determine what his f punishment might be. He waived all time and requested that the Judge toll to-ll mediately pass sentence. I The man was employed here as a tailor last summer with the Llndquist lander company and is :ald lo have 1 filled In and cashed checks of the com-j com-j pany totaling about $600. He then do- parted from Ogden and was arrested a few weeks ago in Idaho where he had obtained employment. 1 When first brought to Ogden Schu- maker Indicated that be would rich I ( his case. He obtained counsel and ! prepared to have a trial to determine his fate. Today it was apparent that he had suddenly changed his mind, for he asked that the eourt proceed-i 1 mgs be hastened.
