Show from fridays daily ane HEART DISEASE A man found dead on fialli street this morning a sad affair occurred on fifth street tho particulars of which as near as we can learn are is follows A few weeks since a colored man named K V bonner lato of evanston Ey anston applied at the leRock restaurant fifth street for the situation of cook he was engaged aud while at work gave satisfaction but he did not enjoy good health and as a consequence was obliged to relinquish his employment this morning between four and five the proprietor of the restaurant was culled up and informed by fanny a colored woman with eliom deceased was lodging that bonner had just DIED IN A CLOSET in the rear of her residence coro ner parry who to be at his farm just north of ogden bridge was apprised of the affair and be came over to town summoned a jury and proceeded to the residence of mis the deceased was then discovered where he had fallen partially outside of the outhouse lie had on his pants and undershirt and on his feer were a pair of socks and carpet slippers fanny payne deposed that deceased came to her residence last monday asked her to wash him a shirt lie also hired ono of her rooms and had lodged at her bouse up to the TIME OF HIS DEATH he was very sickly when he came to lier and she advised him to see dr john driver accompanying deceased to that gent lemans office on filth street this morning about she was awakened by hearing AGONIZING SCREAMS and hastily dressing herself ha proceeded to the decease ds room she failed to find him there and in a second after heard him exclaim GOD HAVE MERCY OV ME she then went outdoors and hearing a noise proceeded to the place men tinned and found ho unfortunate man dead and lying as found by the coroner and jury dr john driver corroborated mif paynes testimony in regard to the deceased visiting him the dr had stated to deceased that be was liable to die any day and that his demise was only a question of a very short time ahe dr made a diagnosis and was of the firm opinion from all indications that the unfortunate mans death was caused through DISEASE OF THE deceased bore a good character and seems to have been possessed of some means and was not known as a drinking man it is not known whether or not he has a wife or family ane jury after examining the body and being satisfied that no vi olence had been committed upon deceased held a short consultation after which they returned the fol lowing VERDICT OF UTAH ogden precinct y an inquest holden in ogden city weber county on alie day of june A D 1880 before parry coroner of said county upon the body of R V bonner a colored man there lying dead by the jurors whose names are herewith subscribed the said jurors lyon their oaths do say said 11 V bonner caine to his death from libart dise we about a m of june 18 1880 in testimony whereof the said jurors have hereunto set hands the day and year aforesaid WILLIAM N FIFE MICHAEL jurors MASK J JOSEPH PARRY coroner |
