There has been an advance of 25 per cent in four months in tho price of diamonds, according to diamond merchants of Holland, bocause of the activlty of Germans, who have been smuggling German bank notes to Hoi land and buying diamonds, believing the diamonds represent greater fu-turo fu-turo value. The exporta of nitrato from Chile for December, 1917. were 5,146.946 Spanish quintals ( about 102 41 pounds per quintal). For December, 1918, they were 3,355,235 quintals.
