The British parliament will re-assemble on Tuesday with several of the weightiest problems of reconstruction still hanging hang-ing over its head. The financial situation, situ-ation, the question of nationalization of mines and railroads and the Irish problem arc three of the most Important Import-ant subjects with which the session Is expected to grapple without delay. Forecasts of King George's speech predict that it will be an unusually 1 long and important pronouncement I The king's speech,- read by his raajes-j raajes-j ty, but framed by tho cabinet, custo-j custo-j marily points out the principal topics , of national interest and frequently , foreshadows the course of legislation, j Premier to Outline Policy. ' Premier Lloyd George is expected to begin the session with a view of the general state of Europe and of the British policy toward various developments devel-opments such as relations with Russia and the Polish and Italian situations. The laborites promise to move an amendment providing for nationalization nationaliza-tion of mines, while the small delegation delega-tion of the Irish nationalist prty in thg house of commons is expected to at-I at-I tack tho government's policy of re-. I presslon, which they blame for Irish I disorders. 1 Among announcements expected is a statement of whether the government govern-ment favors the proposed International conference for discussing tho world's financial ailments. Confirmation alsc is expected of the government's previous prev-ious statement that Great Britain has not considered asking further loans from the United States. Home Rule Revision. The homp rule bill probably will be brought forward at an early day, the cabinet having overhauled it during the past week at conferences witn Vis- count French, lord lieutenant and gov-1 gov-1 ornor general of Ireland, and James Inn MacPherson, chief secretary for Ireland. i Heavy clouds appear to be gathering gather-ing behind the coalition government owing io the steadily Increasing power of the labor party. Some of the best informed, politicians profess to se the ("handwriting on (he wall," that the formation -of a new ministry by the laborites is only a questton of time and that the hour may strike within the next few months. George Nicoll Barnes and George H. Roberts, the last two labor ministers in Premier Lloyd George's cabinet, I have resigned, leaving the coalition I government without any representa-: representa-: tion of the party which recent bye-elections have indicated is numerically the largest political organization in Great Britain. Speculation as to the personnel' of the ntfxt cabinet advances Arthur Henderson, Hen-derson, the labor leader, as a possible premier; Viscount Haldane as lord I chancellor, and Prof. John Maynard Kernes, British delegate on the repa-j repa-j rations sub commission of the peace I conference, as chancellor of the ex-I ex-I chequer. i no |
