Show 'PETITION ISKSHK I II OF LOCAL MOMPEIK j The Weber club and Ogden Cham- ber of Commerce In a petition to tho federal department at Washington seek to have the mountain cast of Og-1 den renamed. At present the name of the peak is Observatory Peak while ; the new name sought is Mount Ogden. The text of the petition follows: "Ogden. Utah, Jan. 19.1920. "Now, therofore, be it, Resolved by the Weber club and the Chamber of Commerce, in convention assembled, both of Ogden City, Utah, do earnestly and respectfully petition tho depart- 1 ment boards at Washington having the power to grant their petitioners pray- i er that the majestic mountain situated sorao five or six miles duo east of Og- ' den City, Utah, shall, hereafter, and ultimately be known on all United States records as Mount Ogden, and j ' by no other name, for the prestige of I Ogden City, and to prevent confusion consequent on the several names by which it is now known; and, furthermore, further-more, be it "Resolved that (he thanks of I he people of this vicinity are due and are hereby extended to our congressman, the Hon. Milton H. Welling and to Dr.' A. S. Condon for their faithful and ! persistent efforts to establish a permanent per-manent name for our familiar and mighty mountain some five or six miles due east of Ogden, Utah, and that hereafter and forever it may be known as Mount Ogden, and nothing I else.
