Show I SOLDIERS TO STRIKE BACK. The soldiers of the world war have been stirred to action by the killing of their comrades at Centralia, Wash., and are preceding to strike back at the "reds." Captain E. E. Morgan of Chicago, in a letter last Thursday said: A force of former soldier vigilantes, determined to throttle the "red" menace in Illinois with the same vigor shown by the American Legion men of the state of Washington, arrived :n Chicago Chi-cago today. The new "Americanization committee" of veterans was composed of the Illinois delegates from the Minneapolis convention ond their new militant body was formed en route to Chicago. Aroused by the murder of four soldiers at Centralia and the revelations of bolshevist activities following the tragedy, w , i the Yanks of Illinois stand pledged to take the leadership in rooting root-ing out antigovernment plots and propaganda. "Ilinois will take the cue from the national organization, which has formed an Americanization committee of the legion," saici Commander Milton G. Foreman of this department on reaching the city today. "We are determined that there shall be no repetition repe-tition of the Centralia tragedy in this state and our work is to be at once militant and educational. "From every post will be appointed representatives on th Americanization committee, which will aid in detecting treason able efforts and utterances among the native and foreign bom. "The 'parlor bolshevist," the near-intellectual disturber, was ! termed the most dangerous menace to the country at the Min- I neapolis convention, and this type of radical will receive particular partic-ular attention from the Americanization committee. |
