Show MANY ATTEND GRAND BALL ON TUESDAY. With an air of patriotism and with the spirit of the day manifested by the presence of uniformed members of drill teams of Ogden lodges, the grand ball given in the Berthana last Tuesday Tues-day evening for the benefit of the "Civilian "Ci-vilian Relief Fund" of the Weber county coun-ty Red Cross chapter, was a complete success not only as a social affair but financially, more than 700 persons" attending. at-tending. The four degree teams, representing the Woodmen of the World, Modern Woodmen, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Knights of Pythias, in full uniform, uni-form, presented a series of difficult and interesting drills completing their demonstration by forming a solid body with American flags and Red Cross banners floating in the ranks. The teams were ably led by Captain Earl R Geiger of the Eagles' degree team. These men in uniform acted as a inception in-ception committee and received the guests in a delightful manner. At 9:30 o'clock the dancers formed for the grand inarch, Miss Thatcher's orchestra orches-tra playing a martial air. A splendid program of dance music was given during dur-ing the evening. Especially delightful delight-ful wero the vocal selections given by bwo of Utah's well known singers, Mr. Bert Syphers and Mr. IT. Le Roi Jackson Jack-son These two entertainers sung several sev-eral of the latest song hits, accompanied accompan-ied by Miss Thatcher's orchestra. |
