Show GROCERS OF OH WE TO SUBSCRIBE TO A Fill Local grocers will be called on for their support in the raising of an ox-ponse ox-ponse fund of $25,000 to be used by the National Association of Grocers in its work of co-operating with the federal food department, according to a telegram tele-gram received by J. S. Carver, director of the national association. The money will be raised by the city grocerymen's organizations, tho stnte organizations and the national organization, all working work-ing In harmony. The telegram was sent by John A. Cunningham, chairman of the trades relation committee of the association. Mr. Carver stated that he would start immediately tho work of getting Ogden members of the retail grocers association to respond to the request with their support. Members of the national association may bo called upon up-on to work in Washington with Mr. Hoover or at other pltlces. ho said, and the expense fund will bo for this purpose principally. Letters bearing warm praise for Utah fruit have been received almost dally by Mr. Carver since his return from his recent trip to Washington td attend the convention of the national association with the federal food commission. com-mission. Mr. Carver took a suit case full of Utah fruit including grapes, peaches and apples, and also sevoral prime bunches of celery, with him on his trip and exhibited them at Chicago, Boston, New York and Washington. He says that everywhere people wero stmck to amazement with the quality of the Utah products and declared thqy did not realize Utah could raise such excellent fruit and vegetables. In Washington Mr. Carver displayed the fruit and vegetables In the office of Mr. Hoover and their appearance brought forth a lot of favorable comment com-ment He says be presented several bunches of grapes to former Senator Frank Cannon -and Mrs. Cannon, who occupied tho same hotol that ho did and they enjoyed them Immensely. Mr. Carver will go to Provo Novom- rrr? ber S to deliver an address to the Utah County Credit Rating association in response re-sponse to an invitation from Secretary John Saxey. |
