Show VERNON TEAM MAY BECHANGED But Beavers and Bees Will Not Be Dropped Coast League Moguls Still Meeting. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 1. Tho bosses of tho Paclflo Coast leaguo were still in session at the SL Francis hotel at 11 o'clock tonight and each ono was blaming the other fellow for calling the meeting. It seems that it is all arranged to hold the annual mooting at Los Angeles next month. This gathering is only a special one and no one seems to know what it is all abouL o Grapevlno Information Is to tho effect that tho meeting was called to discuss changes in the circuit, but it is not likoly that anything -will bo done at this timo. D. W. Cannichael, Alden Anderson and C. F. Heeseman of Sacramento made a formal application for a franchise fran-chise In the league and that made tho club owners who footed the bills this year look at each other in a wonderful way. Al Baum, president of the league, knows his employers pretty woll and he had it all sized up about how things would be at this special meeting. President Baum talking "Now lot us take up this question of tho war tax." Henry Berry, awaking with a start and showing animation "Why not let that matter go over until tho annual an-nual meeting in Los Angeles?" President Baum "How about a salary limit?" Tom Darmody "That is a matter that should come up at tho annual meeting at Los Angeles." President Baum referred to tho matter mat-ter of tho proposed changes In tho circuit. cir-cuit. Judge McCredie looked as pink and white as one of those Mellen's baby food, prize winners. Jack Cook got up at tho same timo and clamored that that also should be left over until the annual meeting in Los Angeles. Hen Berry Kidded. Hon Berry had been kidded so much about Judge McCrodle being tho only director who is allowed to give out any news that ho Is now on his mottle. He says If there is any news in this meotlng and ho finds it out ho is going lo give it out to the papers. In the ! past the scrlbo3 had to get It from Portland. Judge McCredie passed ltj out. Now Hen Is gamo enough to go' through and ho says ho will save his, homo town papers quite a lot of tele-1 graph tolls, ; Just to try his hand at giving out nowa, Hen said thoro Is a possibility that Vernon will bo dropped. Ho says Los Angeles does not liko continuous baseball and tho gamo will be better thcro with only ono club. Johnny Powers Pow-ers will tako over Vornon's part of the lease on tho ball park, and If the Vemon club Is removed to Sacramento or some other seaport, tho loaguo will bo strengthened all around. Cook Gets Good Start. Jack Cook got a running start on Judge McCrcdio at tho afternoon meeting meet-ing and talked for ono hour without letting his voico fall. Hen Berry says that was Jack'B opening statement, and as Jack has reserved the right to make tho closing spoech also, something some-thing like a million more words will bo used by the Salt Lako man. Judge McCredie brought so many figures wltii nim that ho has to uso an adding machlno when ho wants to scgregato them. Tho meeting adjourned for dinner at S p. m., bocauso Hon Berry was all worn out listening to the speech of Jack Cook. They were still in session late tonight and It Is likely that tho entire result of thoir efforts will look liko tho centor of n doughnut - It is a protty safe bet that Portland Port-land and Salt Lake will not be dropped. If there Is any change It will afreet Vernon. |
