Show WEiCE U. BECKETT DIES OF SPANISH IfUIlfi ; Lawrence U. Beckett, well-known young man of this citv and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Beckett, Sr., was called by death this morning at 7 o'clock at the family home, rear 2465 Monroe avenue, where since early Sunday morning he has been ill of pneumonia, caused by an attack' of Spanish influenza. The father stated today that his. son was taken ill very suddenly and that on Sunday at 10 a. m. he mot Law-renc Law-renc as he alighted from the street car on his way home and at the time, tho young man appeared seriously ill. Mrs. Beckett, wife of the deceased and Miss Ellen Beckett, a sister are at present 111 of the malady, but are recovering nicely. Lawrence resided at 2059 Ballantyne avenue. Lawrence was known by a great many Ogdenltes as a young man of high Ideals and cheery disposition and his death will sadden the hearts of a large circle of friends. He was employed employ-ed by the Ogden Paint Oil and Glass company as manager of their service station at Twenty-seventh street and Washington avenue. Mr. Beckett was born, November 7, 1894, the son of Harriet Underwood and Henry W. Beckett and one year ago was marriod to Miss Eva Wheelwright Wheel-wright who with the parents and the following brothers and sisters, survives: sur-vives: Louis S., Henry W. Jr., Howard C, Clarence S., Ray H., Fred L., Ellen L., and Rhea G. Beckett all of Ogden. Howard C. Beckett is now at Camp Fremont, Cal., in the service of his country. 'The body has been taken to the Larkin chapel to be prepared 'for funeral fu-neral services to be held Wednesday at 3:30 o'clock in tho Ogden City cemetery, the bishopric of the Fifth ward officiating. Interment Ogden City cemetery. Tho body may be viewed at the Larkin chapel tomorrow until 2:30 o'clock. |
