Show FLOYD E. WH1TT ' 1 Corporal Floyd F. Whltt of Lewis ton. Utah, son of F F. Whltt, writer of his safe arrival at Camp lpton. N. Whltt is well known to local people peo-ple as he was employed as a brake-man brake-man on the Utah-Idaho Central and spent most of his time in Ogden. He i says that when they arrived in New York, they went over to the Hudson river and took a swim. He Is with tb' 31th engineers. Tho letter reads: "Camp Upton, N. Y., Aug. 9, 191$ "Dear Mother and Father. I arrived at Camp Upton at 10:30 last night. ( and I was certainly tired. I had a 1 good time on the way out here from ! Fort Harrison. Wc wont through all tho largo cities of the cast. Wc got in New Jersey at noon yesterday and crossed the Hudson river on a ship. "I am glad I am in tho army. I have seen more In the last two montl1? than in all tho rest of my life. When , we got in Vesina, N. Y., we went down to the Hudson river and had a good swim and when we reached Rochester we had a shower bath. "Our captain and lieutenants are good to us. They want us to keep clean. "I have been washing my clothes . today and now I am going to sew somo buttons on my clothes. We are only threo miles from the ocean and I r.m going out tomorrow if I can. "I will write you again tomorrow. "From your loving son, Floyd. Co. D. 31th Engineers." |
