Barrio's one-act comedy, "Tho Twelve Pound Look," which Is' ono of tho plays to be presented at tho Or-phoum Or-phoum next Wednesday evening by the Drama club players, has a purpose beside be-side mere amusement It was first played by Miss Ethel Barrymore at the Frohman theater in New York Cltv. and aftrwards used in hor transcontinental trans-continental trip of 1909, as a curtain raiser before the long play "Alice-Slt-By -The -Fire." Is it just for a woman to have her Individuality smothered by an egotistic egotis-tic husband, even though he swaddles her in luxury? Which does a real woman prefer, to be a bejewelled plaything play-thing or to toil and suffer with others whom she loves and understands? Can it be that in tho audience is a Harry Sims? Tho cast for this playlet has been selected with especial reference to the fitness of tho players for each role. Directing the play, and playing the part of the runaway independent wife, "with a serene and contented faco. in hor simple working dress," is Miss Minnie Moore Brown, well-known' as a local player. The wistful, gorgeously gorgeous-ly clothed wife, "shrinking as if there wero some one near of whom she is afraid," is Mrs. Leah Pardoe Green-well. Green-well. The astoundingly self-centered and successful husband will bo played by Mr. Henry' A. Anderson, and tho pompous butlor by Mr. Douglas Lolsh-man. Lolsh-man. Tho popular Mr. Henry A. Anderson displays his talent in one of tho heaviest heav-iest roles with Mrs. Leah P. Greenwell in the four one-act plays given. Tho costumes worn by the players in Uie one-act play, "The Laughter of the Gods" wero secured from San Francisco and were designed and made In Europe. |
