Show PRDOTY IS ENDORSED By PI1KTDRERS SALT LAKE. Dec. 17 At the regular reg-ular meeting of the board of directors of the Utah Manufacturers association ! yesterday, C. A. Prouty, director of i the division of public service and ac- counting of the United States railroad administration, was Indorsed as sue-1 sue-1 cossor to W. G. McAdoo as director general of railroads. Expressing the sentiment of tho association, the following fol-lowing telegram was sent to President Wilson: "We respectfully urge the appointment appoint-ment of Honorable C. A. Prouty to the position of director general of railroads, rail-roads, succeeding W. G. McAdoo. Wo i know Mr. Prouty to be well qualified and practical. His appointment will Inspire confidence among shippers and the public." After a general discussion of national na-tional revenue matters, during which the sentiment was strongly expressed that the taxation for 1919 should not exceed ' $4,000,000,000, the following telegram was authorized to be sent to Utah's congressional delegation and to the national council of defense: "Now that the war Is over and did not continue the length of time expected ex-pected and will not cost the amount expected, we feel very strongly thta tho 1919 revenue bill should be based upon a total of approximately four billion bil-lion dollars. Western manufacturers and Industries must prepare for constant con-stant expansion in business, by nature of our only partially developed resources. re-sources. "After paying reasonable dividends, something should be left In the treasury treas-ury of our various Industries to provide pro-vide for expansion and the decline in value of all commodities which we must face during the next few years.
