Show IDAHO HAS A CAR SHORTAGE WHICH IS SERIOUS "Idaho is 5000 cars behind on shipments. ship-ments. Regardless of this immense car shortage, business conditions in that state are good. The situation may bo cleared when the immense number of cars which wero tied up in tho eastern east-ern and central western terminals during dur-ing the recent storms aro released." That was tho statoment of Willard G. Wilson, commercial agent for the Southern Pacific, who returned Sunday Sun-day afternoon from a ten -day trip to Boise, Twin Falls and other Idaho points. Mr. Wilson was in that district on company business. Ho stated that the delayed shipments consisted largely large-ly pf mill products. "Idaho could uso 5000 cars right now for tho shipment of its products," he continued. "These delayed shipments consist largely of mill stuff, potatoes, alfalfa hay, alfalfa meal and similar commodities. Tho shortage of box car equipment Is rather serious and this is particularly true of the refrigeration cars for the shipment of potatoes. The recent ordor of'Secretary McAdoo, giving giv-ing priority to grain shipments east for transportation to tho fighting forces in France, tends to mako It moro uncer-! tain as to when relief will arrive. It will be considerably helped when the cars delayed in eastern and central western terminals by reason of the recent re-cent storms aro released." |
