Show HG FOREIGNERS BETTER CITIZENS OF. UTAH The appointment of a county chairman chair-man bf education to work particularly with foreign-born residents of the county is recommended to Mrs. H. H. Spencer by Mrs. Leah D. WIdtsoe, state chairman of the department of education. In a letter received today. Mrs. Widtsoe says that there are some 6S.000 foreigners in Utah and many have only a lukewarm regard for America and only a very passive patriotism. It ia proposed to stimulate stimu-late these people by education under direction of a county chairman of edu-vation, edu-vation, so that they will be turned into first-class citizens and be valuable to the state. Mrs. Spencer Is considering the suggestion sug-gestion and considering also a possible possi-ble candidate for the position, although no definite plan of procedure has been outlined. |
