Show AUTO ACCIDENTS INCREASE With the rapidly increasing number of automobiles, accidents will multiply, multi-ply, but there are rules of safety which should be observed with growing grow-ing caution. No auto driver, in passing along our streets where there are long lines of j machines against tho curb, should send his car at a speed which forbids stopping instantly. On Twenty-fourth street, for instance, on the south side near Washington avenue there always is a row of autos, and the narrow driveway at that point brings the moving mov-ing automobile close to the standing cars. A reckless chauffeur some day will speed by those obstructions to the vision and a child will dash out from between themachines and then there will be endless regrets, but regrets re-grets will no.1, restore life to the mangled man-gled little one. Any one driving an automobile must be constantly looking for the unexpected, unex-pected, and that applies with force whenever children are within the zone of danger. No automobile should pass another automobile or other vehicle except under un-der full control, but this Is a safeguard safe-guard which is so seldom followed as to be almost ignored. oo |
