H "HERALD-REPUBLICAN PUB- M LISHING COMPANY." Hjfl The Salt Lake Herald was estab- Ilished June 6, 1870, and was conducted conduct-ed as a Democratic organ until its consolidation con-solidation with the Inter-mountain Republican Re-publican on February 12, 1906, since which time and until January 1, 1917, it had been the organ of a factional part of tho Republican party. The paper pa-per gradually drifted into financial troubles through its policy and lost much of its advertising patronage and circulation. The old factional management manage-ment was displaced on January 1, 1917, and an entirely new policy was adopted under tho management of James P. CaBey. The Salt Lake Telegram, it is expected, ex-pected, will publish both a morning and an afternoon paper with, a view of protecting tho news franchise now held by tho Herald-Republican. It is rumored that an entirely new corporation corpo-ration will bo formed at a later date and will tako over both papers. It is understood that George E. Hale, now general manager of the Salt Lake Telegram, Tele-gram, will have tho general managc-. managc-. ment of both papers. |
