Show WIFE BANKRUPTS A - MI BY BUYING FINE CLOTHES Because of his former wife's uncontrollable uncon-trollable taste for fine clothes which he was not ablo to pay for, James Var-noy Var-noy Jr., of this city, has filed a petition peti-tion in bankruptcy with the federal court. The petition shows over half of Varney's indebtedness of approximately approxi-mately 3600 to be duo to his wife's actions ac-tions of incurring several good sized debts for clothes, dentistry and other things which ho was required to pay. Varney is a teamster and was totally unablo to keep out of debt on the wages ho received while his wife bought goods and charged them to him. The couple were divorced a few months ago, tho wifo being granted tho custody of the children. A modification modifi-cation of tho decree at a later date, however, gave tho custody of the children chil-dren to the husband and cut off the alimony granted the wife. Mrs. Var-noy Var-noy left Ogden a few weeks after the divorce, it is said, and Is now thought to be in California. Among other items in tho bankruptcy bankrupt-cy petition are bills for rent which, Vamer claims, tho wife was supposed to pay out of funds received by her from the lodging houso she conducted. Mrs. Varney was loft a small amount of money from an Insurance policy held by a deceased relative, according to Varney, and was at all times possessed pos-sessed of sufficient money to keep out of debt. nn |
