An excellent move Is being made by the Utah Agricultural college in offering of-fering to the parents a course de-signed de-signed to give "the most choice and fundamental things In modern science and art " Demonstrations will supply the pmc tlcal work of the course. The essential essen-tial facts in agriculture and home life will be covered, as well as necessary' information in the fields of English, art, government, social science, and other sciences. President Peterson's recommendation follows: "The Agricultural College has a special spe-cial appeal to the parents of the state. More and more form year to year the mature men and women have lound Interest and intellectual profit in attending at-tending the various courses of the Institution In-stitution With the development of our practical winter course, this interest in-terest will increase. Next winter, beginning near the middle mid-dle of November and extending until March, I recommend that the college be authorized to organize a parents' course open only to the mature n n and women of the state. In this course, which will be conducted by the best teachers in the college, the fundamental fundamen-tal things in modern science and art will be taught, and demonstrations conducted to reveal the most interesting inter-esting and important facts and principles prin-ciples of our modern civilization. "Thousands of parents, farmers, their wives and business men, were deprived of the blessings of education. educa-tion. This course will enable them, under the most favorable conditions, to carry on studies during the season of the year when their home work can well be left for a time. Obviously, no examinations or prerequisites will be necessary in this work. The work will cover the fundamental scientific facts in our agriculture and home life, the essentials of political economy. good English, how to speak it and write it; the principles of science upon which our modern industry Is built. Including In-cluding a scientific analysis of modern manufacturing, and its tremendous In fluence upon the life of the people, how to live in conformity to modern facts of sanitation, personal hygiene and a resume of the world's most recent re-cent thought on religion, peace and war." |
