Show FASHION SHOW IS TO BE HELD DURING TRE FALL Ogdcn's fifth annual fall festival and fashion show will bo an event long re-memborcd re-memborcd In the city, according to plans outlined last evening at a meeting meet-ing of merchants, bankers and professional profes-sional men held at tho "Weber club rooms when tho decision was reached to carry through tho evont this year. Dosplto tho fact that America is at war, added to tho scarcity of labor and tho heavy business rushing Ogden factories fac-tories and stores, the business men decided de-cided unanimously that tho fall festival is a proper northern Utah event that should bo held as scheduled. No attempt at-tempt will bo mado to excel last year's program, excepting that tho cvenfs will bo crowded into a shorter period and there will bo a tendency to put "pop" and "ginger' into every moment of the festivities. The motion to hold the show was made by John Culley and seconded by C. Angus Wright, following a suggestion sugges-tion made by W. E. Zuppann that the ovont be for tho two nights and one day, as a best compromise between tho proposals for the usual three-day show and the counter-proposition of a one-day one-day event. Undor this arrangement tho first ovening would be a stellar featuro of the fashion show and would be widely advertised while the numerous numer-ous events of the following morning, afternoon and ovening would bo along the lines of harvost festivals. In general, tho Ogden merchants showed their approval of tho fall festival fes-tival plans for this year, although calling call-ing attention to the scarcity of labor, tho calls for funds for war purposes and similar conditions. When tho meeting was completed and Chairman James H. Douglas had adjourned tho session, there was a general voicing of approval for tho stop taken. Chairman Chair-man Douglas Immediately callod a meeting of the festival directors, to bo held next Tuesday ovening when a successor will bo elected to President Presi-dent Fred G. Taylor, who has roslgned because of sickness. At the same meeting meet-ing tho plans for tho show this year will bo outlined in considerable detail de-tail and committers will be named to carry through tho event. If tho general gener-al idea suggested by Commissioner Miles L. Jones and by J. W. Abbott is followed, tho show this year will take on tho aspect of a harvest festival festi-val to oven greater extent than ever before, the bountiful harvests of tho year being especially given attention in tho festivities. |
