Show oo BEGEPTIOniTUESDAYTO TRAVELERS OH OT) TRfilL City and county highway officials are expected to be present at the Weber Web-er club on the evening of Tuesday, July 31st, to assist in tho reception to Secretary of State I. M. Howell of Washington, President Ben F. Hill of the Evergreen Highway association, tho state road engineer and other prominent visitors from hto northwest north-west who will be here that evening to speak in the Interests of an all-the-year-round military highway beginning at Victoria, B. C, extending down to Texas, through the south, and up the eastern coast to Maine. The Evergreen palhfinding party, of which the prominent WashSngtonlans are membors, left Vancouver about a week ago and arrived at Lewlston, Ida. Monday, it is now proceeding south through Idaho and should reach here on schedule Tuesday afternoon. "The trip is a complete success," said Secretary A. J. Elrod of tho highway high-way association speaking in Lewiston. "The people In all communities are deeply interested and we found an interest in-terest in tho British Columbia cities that insures financial assistance in carrying forward the campaign for exploiting ex-ploiting the Evergreen highway plans. "The proposed construction will give an outlet to communities now isolated from the outside as far as highways are concerned and will provide an all-winter all-winter route for auto travel from the state of Washington to the state of Maine." |
