Show Society BACK FROM OUTING After a two weeks' auto tour through northern Utah and southern Idaho, Phil Kohn, P. C. Richardson, E. B. Stone and Morris Flowers, accompanied ac-companied by their families, returned home yesterday. They enjoyed stops at Fishaven. on Bear lake, Soda Springs, Lava Springs, Pocatello and Idaho Falls. They met Jed Ballan-tyne Ballan-tyne and party at Malad, going north to the Yellowstone. 'The Fourth ward W. C T. U. will meet on Wednesday at 2:30 o'clock in the M. E. church basement. A dues shower will be conducted and all are cordially invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. H. T, Marsh of 3171 Porter avenue have as their guest Mr. W. A. Mills, who Is en route to his home in Cheyenne from California. i GOES TO CALIFORNIA j Miss Helen Mitchell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George D. Mitchell, has departed de-parted for -Berkeley, Cal., where sho will take her sophomore college work in the University of California. . i GONE TO COLORADO Dr. Margaret Burns left Sunday for two weeks' visit to Denver and Colo-J Colo-J rado Springs. SURPRISE PARTY IS PRETTY AFFAIR. One of tho most delightful events of the past week in society circles was the surprise party tendered Mrs. William Wil-liam Anderson "6f Mackintosh, North Dakota, by the Pythian Sisters on J Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. O.-E. Williams, 2068 Madison avenue. ave-nue. Mrs. Anderson formerly resided in i Ogden whero she has many friends! and is here now visiting her mother, Mrs. Leaman, 866 Twenty-fifth street Tho home of Mrs. Williams was exquisitely ex-quisitely decorated for the event in honor of Mrs. Anderson and during the afternoon hours games of five hundred hun-dred were played, the first prize being given Mrs. Ella Brown and second to Mrs. Turner. Mrs. Anderson was presented pre-sented with a lovely gift from the Pythian Py-thian Sisters as a token of friendship and esteem. Later Mrs. Williams, assisted by Mrs. Robb, Mrs. Hodge and Mrs. Tvree served a delicious and daintilv prepared prepar-ed luncheon. AThe long table, where about twenty guests were seated, was beautifully decorated with large vases of gladioli In deep rose color together with ferns. The day was one of the most pleasant pleas-ant spent by the Pythian Sisters for some time. RETURN HOME Miss Eva Brown. Miss Genevieve Allison and Miss Lenoro Hinckley returned re-turned today from Berkeley, Cal., whero they attended the University of California summer school. oo A PACIFIC PORT, Aug. 13. A Japanese Jap-anese mission to tho United States arrived ar-rived hero today. It was headed by Viscount K. Ishii, ambassador extraordinary, extra-ordinary, and plenipotentiary, and was received by a state department staff . headed by Breckinridge Long, third assistant secretary of state, and by the city officials. |
