Show BATTERY 8 LEAVES 01 SEPTEMBER 31 FOR THE COAST Orders have been received at Fort Douglas by the 115th Regiment, the Utah Artillery which contains Battery B, to entrain September 30 for Linda Vista, Cal., to go Into training at Camp Kearney. This is considered tho best news the boys of the artillery have received during the summer and they are all eager and keen to get away. About five trains will bo required to transport the artillorymen and their equipment to tho California camp. Arrangements Ar-rangements have boon mado by railroad rail-road officials with the officers of tho infantry and estimates made of the required amount of railroad equipment and it is expected that the Infantry will get under way without a hitch. Orders to movo were received yes-torday yes-torday at the fort by Col. Alfred Has-brouck, Has-brouck, commanding officer, and wero quickly communicated to Col. R. W. Young, commanding tho l-15tb. About fifteen cars will be required for Battery Bat-tery A, which has more equipment than any of the other batteries. Battery Bat-tery B also has a large amount of equipment and will require more cars than tho avorage number so It may bo consolidated with Battery A and both be sent to California as two sections sec-tions of tho same train. It has been ostlmated that Battery A will require one cook car, two horso cars, two sleeping cars, seven flat cars and three cars for general equipment. The other trains will be made up principally principal-ly of sleeping cars for transporting the men. |
