i DEVELOPMENTS IN MCKilLING OUTRAGE Guards have been employed to keep a close watch on the residence of David C. Eccles, since the blackmailers blackmail-ers sought to extort $10,000 from him. Aside from this there were no developments de-velopments in the situation as depicted depict-ed in the newspapers yesterday. It was reported that the head of the Pinkerton Detective agency in Salt Lake had been engaged to conduct a search for the bandits, who engaged local police and sheriff's officers in a gun battle on Thursday night when the latter sought to block their extortion extor-tion game. This report was neither denied nor confirmed. The blackmailers did not threaten to kidnap the children of Mr. Eccles.
