Pratt has returned to her home in Salt Lako after a pleasant visit in this city with Mrs. W. E. Archibald for the past week. TO ATTEND CONVENTION. Mrs. Flora M. Freeman, superintendent superin-tendent of the San Francisco Crltten-don Crltten-don home Is in Ogden and will spend Sunday with Miss Minis, local superintendent super-intendent of the Crittendon home. Mrs. Freeman will inspect the work here and will leave on Monday for the east where she will attend the national convention of Crittendon home superintendents. SILVER BEE CLUB. Mrs. Trolicht entertained the Silver Bee club last Wednesday afternoon at her home. A delicious luncheon was served and a very pleasant time was passed. Those present were: Mesdames Holland, Eggleston, Wilson, Wil-son, Lightener, Pimlott, Calvert, Hanson, Han-son, Broen, Kramer, Dana, Coppock, Dunham, Bergen, Hadlock, Hains. The club will meet again November 1, with Mrs. Breen, 2321 Lincoln avenue. NO MEETING OF SACRED HEART LEAGUE. As the ladies of St. Joseph's church are so busy preparing for the coming bazaar, there will be no meeting meet-ing of the League of the Sacred Heart. Leaflets will be distributed at the church. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Thomas announce the engagement of their daughter, Nellie, to Henry D. Young of Ogden. The wedding will occur late in October. Oc-tober. METHODIST LADIES' AID. The LadieB Aid Society of the First Methodist church held a pleasant pleas-ant meeting at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Carr, 1341 Twenty-fifth street last Thursday afternoon, October 19. The Mesdames Paine. Middleton, Crav en and Beason assisted the hostess in entertaining about sixty ladles of the society and their friends. A short program of readings and music was followed by service of refreshments. The day was an especially enjoyable one. PRESBYTERIAN LADIES' AID. A nicely arranged parcel shower was given last Thursday afternoon in honor of Miss Loretta Greenwell whose engagement to Mr. Lawrence Richards has been announced. The hostesses of the affair were Mrs. Clyde Greenwell and Miss Mildred Pardoe. The afternoon was pleasantly pleasant-ly spent by the ladios attending. SOCIAL GIVEN BY BEEHIVE GIRLS The Blue Bird Swarm of the Harrls-villo Harrls-villo ward gave a social Friday evening eve-ning at the bee keeper's home. The color Bcheme was in blue aud white. In the living room was a large beehive bee-hive and bees flying toward it. The evening was spent in playing games, music and display of the different cells after which supper was served. The affair was given in honor hon-or of Miss Mary Abbott, an autumn bride-to-be. Throughout the home a very pretty color scheme of yellow and white was carried out with large bouquets of yellow and white dahlias being arranged ar-ranged in vases. In the dining room where the hostess served a tempting luncheon, the flowers graced the table. Coveis were laid for 20 guests. At each plate attractive yellow and white cards and yellow and white dahlias were placed. The guests presented pre-sented Miss Abbott with a beautiful serving tray. 'GUEST, HONORED BY OGDEN LODGE. Mrs. Jessie Smythe, president of No. 237, Introduced the grand officer, and in a fine well-chosen remarks presented pre-sented Mrs. Douglas with a beautiful souvenir spoon of the Ogden Lucin Cutoff Cut-off as a token of the appreciation from the members to which Mrs. Douglas responded, expressing herself as well pleased with the condition of books, rituals, etc., and especially the floor work as It was presented by the officers offi-cers and members marking them perfect. per-fect. Mrs. Douglas Is a frequent visitor visi-tor to Ogden spending part of the summer vacation here in company with her husband, they stop as a rule at the Hot Springs and Ogden canyon, and is never tired of singing the praises of our beautiful mountains and healthy climate. Miss Alice Manning is entertaining her until Monday, when she departs for Las Vegas, New, inspecting Salt Lake division on her return trip, which will be the 28th of October, then on east. RETURN HOME. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Healy have returned from an extended visit to the coast. Mr. Healy Is Improved in health. VISITING SON. Mrs. Ed. LInsley, mother of Ray Llnsley, is visiting her son on Wall avenue. Mrs. Llnsley has been absent ab-sent from our city for about two years, spending a good part of the time in Alaska with her daughter and son-in-law who reside there. SELECT NEW OFFICERS. Thirty ladles were the guests of Miss Dorothea Browning yesterday afternoon af-ternoon at a lovely tea given at the 'Maids' and Matrons' club In honor of two of MIsb Browning's former classmates, class-mates, Mrs. Carlos Close and Mrs. Warren Tucker, graduates of Stanford Stan-ford university. The tea table was very attractive with a central bouquet bou-quet of pink chrysanthemums and a perfectly prepared menu was served. DINNER DANCE. Monday evening at the Maids' and Matrons' club a dinner dance will be given. W. R. C. INSPECTION. The W. R. C. inspection on Friday afternoon was a huge success, a delegation dele-gation of twenty-five from Salt Lake attending. The department commander comman-der and staff, department president, Miss Hines of the W. R. C. and her official family with the Dix Logan W. R. C. and G. A. R. post numbering number-ing about one hundred and thirty were seated at a perfectly prepared banquet at noon, when some lively toasts were given and responded to. Muller and Miss Leota ' Kennedy had read articles on the sub-' ject. in which physicians gave tho I opinion that the use of alcohol for any disease was injurious.
