Show oo NEW YORK STATE GOES FORMES New York, Nov. 7. The Republicans Republi-cans made a clean sweep of New York state, with Governor Whitman running ahead of Hughes and William Calder, United States senatorial candidate, can-didate, far ahead of his running mates., From incomplete returns the following follow-ing pluralities are estimated: Hughes over Wilson, 100,000. Whitman over Seabury, 200,000. Calder over McComhs, 220,000. The upstate "counties rolled up the old-fashioned Republican majorities, apparently forgetting the dark days of 1912 and the rift in the party ranks. In New York Clly Wilson fell far behind the expectations of his campaign cam-paign managers and other Democratic leaders. The indications from incomplete incom-plete returns are that he will carry the city by 40,000. Brooklyn gives 6000 of this plurality. Queens is in doubt, though the Republican campaign cam-paign managers claim a chance of winning. The other countieB of the city. Now York, Bronx and Richmond, were carried by Wilson. Judge Seabury ran behind his ticket tick-et in the city. Though President Wilson Wil-son carried Brooklyn by approximately approximate-ly 60,000, Whitman carried the county by something like 8000. Seabury's plurality plu-rality in the entire city will be in the neighborhood of 20,000. Wilson made big gains In the Republican Re-publican districts of New York, but his votes in the Democratic districts slumped. Albany couRty Uie domain of Boss Barnes, th,e foe of Hughes since the days when Hughes as governor made his fight against race track gamblers, rolled up the splendid plurality for the Republican candidates. Erie county I also gave Hughes an estimated plurality plural-ity of 10,000. In their pre-election estimate es-timate the Republican campaign managers man-agers had conceded Erie to Wilson by 5000.. . San Francisco, Nov. 8. In San Francisco the city registrar estimated that Wilson would have a majority of 20,000. Whether this would overcome the majority certain to bo rolled up for Hughes in tho southern California cities was the point with which election experts concerned themselves. The Los Angeles returns Indicated that the Hughes' majority would not be as heavy as the Republican, leaders had estimated. Governor Hiram W Johnson, Republican Re-publican and Progressive candidates for United States senator, had a commanding com-manding lead over his Democratic opponent, op-ponent, George S. Patten and it was believed his majority would approximate approxi-mate 200,000. The two prohibition amendments, which shared in the presidential contest early, appeared to have been beaten.
