Show TRACK TEAMS TO MEET WEDNESDAY Brigham Young University and Utah Athletes to Contest Con-test on Cummings Field. Salt Lake. May 4. The Brigham Young university and University of Utah track teams will hold their first dual track meet on Cummiugh field tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock This meet will be the only chance for fans to see collegiate men in action here. Other meets will be held in Logan twice and in Denver once. A stiff contest is promised, as both te;tms are especially strong in six or soen events and corresponding! v weak in others. Some of the keenest events will be the sprints and the high jump. In the weighs it looks as if Utah should' win handily and in the broad jump and long distance runs it would seem that the southern school has the better of it. In the pole vault both teams will be weak owing to the recent mishap to Van Pelt, the rrimson pole vaulter. high jumper, broad jumper and hurdle rarer. To offset this handicap g (he illness ill-ness of Larson the B Y U. wonder in the high jump, who Is also a good man in the broad. Larsen Is good for six feet two inches in the high most any time and in the broad can jump nineteen feet, which will go a long way toward winning second place as Luke, the B y. Q, athlete, is the only man in the state apparently who can go farther than that distance, with the exception of Van Pelt, who la now1 laid up probably Tor the rest of tbe season. In the recent A. C -B. Y. 0 meet held In Provo the Farmer aggregation won by six points. The Brigham Young school is now resolved to revenge re-venge itself for this defeat at the expense ex-pense of the university. Some of the men upon whom Coach Roberts is relying for points pre Luke. Hales, Later, Cooper, Bark dull and Gunn. All of these men are veterans and did much to make the score so even against the Aggies Saturday. |
