Show Chicago Grain Chicago, Nov. 11. Word that frost hadd one great damage to the crop in Argentina and that the estimate Argentina Ar-gentina exportable surplus had been reduced to 23,000,000 bushels caused a sharp advance today in wheat prices here. According to the bulls, the news from Argentina, meant an increased European demand for the rapidly decreasing de-creasing stock of wheat in the United States. On the other hand, it was urged that any temporary cessation of buying on tho part of the British commission com-mission would tend to induce unloading unload-ing here by weak holders. Opening prices, which ranged from lc off to lc up. with December at $1.88 1-2 to 1.89 3-4 and May at $1.91 3-4 to 192 1-2, wore followed by material gains all around. Corn, like wheat, was strong as a result of bullish Argentina crop conditions. con-ditions. Stormy weather threatening delay to the movement of the domes-tio domes-tio crop counted also against the bears. After opening unchanged to 1 l-4c higher, the market cored moderate mod-erate general gains. In oatB the principal factor w&g tho strength of corn. Commission houses were mostly on the buying side. Provisions weakened owing to a falling fall-ing off in shipments of lard and meats. On the break, however, good support developed. Reactions In wheat that ensued failed fail-ed to last. Large export business was said to be in progress. The market closed unsettled 3-4c to 1 l-2c net higher, with December at $1.89 1-2 and May at $L93 1-4 to 1.93 1-2. Increased country offerings had only a transient bearish effect on corn. May and July crossed 96 cents to a new high price record for the season. The cose was strong at 2c to 2 3-4c net advance.
